The Urban Pastorals project sponsors events at the Somerville Community Growing Center and other locations focused on the intersection of climate, racial, immigrant, gender, and queer justice.
Past events have included a convening of local climate activists held in May 2025; a discussion in June 2025 by scholar Janaina Campos Lobo of the role of Afro-descendent communities in Brazil in fighting climate change (see our Past Events page for link to recording); a community gathering led by Diane Wong of the Racial Justice Collaborative focusing on fighting anti-Blackness, also held in June 2025; a summer 2025 playwriting workshop led by Alicia Hyland; and "Crafting: The Weïrd Sisters," a devised, harvest-theme event based on Macbeth and created by Neve Pires in September 2025.
